Our purpose is to work together in a self-organized model to use local resources to create a more sustainable food system. We are an unincorporated partnership with a treasurer and a bank account.Greenfield Chicken Collective was born as a seed of the Community Egg Project of the Pleasant Street Community Garden PSCG (a previous grantee). The local senior center granted us land in their backyard top run as a community garden. PSCG used hens as an integrated form of bug/weed control with soil enhancement from their excrement.  This experiment went on for 2 years as we got the community garden plots ready.  We had one year as a joint group which had a large overlap between gardeners and coop participants. Some key persons left one group or the other and the chicken collective became a distinct group.  The coop had a strong need for regular meetings and daily communication. The gardeners did not need or develop that type of working method. So we are registering as a new group.
