Grandmothers' Village Project (GMVP) is an Indigenous-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded to address the systemic inequities that leave marginalized elders, particularly Elders of Color, without access to safe, affordable housing, healthy food, supportive community, and opportunities to age with dignity. We believe elders are vital cultural knowledge keepers whose wisdom strengthens families, communities, and future generations.Our long-term vision is to develop eco-sustainable, net-zero villages rooted in Indigenous knowledge, values, and regenerative practices, where elders can thrive in community while serving as mentors, teachers, and leaders. Beyond housing, we work to advance food sovereignty, environmental stewardship, climate resilience, community partnerships, and advocacy that improve the health and well-being of elders and the broader community.I created Grandmothers' Village because existing systems too often leave elders isolated, displaced, or overlooked. By creating community-led solutions grounded in respect, reciprocity, and cultural belonging, we are building a model that demonstrates how housing, environmental sustainability, and community can come together to support healthier, more connected lives for present and future generations.
