Our Purpose

Glow in the Dark Lowell was created to illuminate pathways of access, learning, and inclusion for community members who are often excluded from public programs and emerging opportunities. Our work is rooted in lived experience as parents, educators, and community advocates responding to the real barriers faced by disabled, neurodivergent, immigrant, and multilingual families in Greater Lowell. Our “A for AI: Abilities for All” initiative builds on this foundation by using AI literacy as a tool for community access, empowerment, and resilience. We aim to reduce the digital divide by supporting youth and families to understand, question, and shape how technology impacts their lives, especially during moments when access to clear information and inclusive systems matters most. This includes culturally responsive, hands-on learning that centers ethics, accessibility, and community care.We believe environmental justice includes who has access to information, safe public spaces, and decision-making power in a rapidly changing world. By offering community workshops, mentorship, and inclusive design activities, we support participants in seeing themselves not just as technology users, but as contributors and leaders. Our big picture goal is a more equitable Lowell where families most impacted by systemic and environmental stressors are leading solutions and strengthening community resilience together.
