Our Purpose

CFCC was founded just before the Covid-19 pandemic, when families of color across Cambridge were experiencing pre-existing and ongoing historical inequities and unique challenges related to the pandemic exacerbated impacts to well-being and educational  experience. Our purpose is to support students and families of color to have an impact on their students’ educational experiences through anti-racist approach to family engagement across Cambridge. We support families of color across Cambridge through educational programs and training, access to resources, community needs assessments, regular meetings with school district leaders, community events, and both formal and information spaces for caregivers of color to connect and engage with one another and with the resources they need. Through the Seed Grant funding, we aim to increase CFCC’s advocacy primarily focusing on family engagemnt that is directly linked to student learning outcomes and acheivement. Empahasizing students of color with disabilties, nuerodiverngent, and the high needs student population. Ultimately advocating for the Cambridge Public school district to move from a caregiver involvemment model to authnetic family engagement that is inclusive and responsive to the needs of families of color.
