Our purpose is to work with the Burlington School District, the City, and a diverse set of local partners to create an immersive, place-based semester program for Burlington High School students. The program will be hosted at various locations in the city and feature an integrated, project-based curriculum exploring critical issues related to Burlington's natural resources, economy, and society. We will plan and execute an Equity and Inclusion strategy, ensuring that the program reflects the City's diversity, and intentionally work to build community among students across lines of difference. This model will deepen students' engagement, agency, and sense of responsibility and ownership for Burlington, for their education, and for the future. At a time when the School District has few resources for innovation, our group, which includes two current BHS teachers, will provide the impetus to develop this program.
