Our Purpose

I am a girl scout, working to earn my gold award by getting the Algonquin Regional High school (ARHS) greenhouse up and running.  I am taking on this effort myself and am working on getting the HVAC system updated, purchase shades, new paint, and materials for the greenhouse.  I will then work with teachers to use the greenhouse to update cirriculum to teach the children about the following areas:  Educate the children on sustainable food sources. Cultivate practical skills in botany, horticulture, biology, ecology, and environmental sciences. STEM concepts: Observe plant growth cycles, study photosynthesis, soil composition, and water cycleEcology concepts: Learn about plant pathology, etomology, and the impact of climate change and sustainable agriculture and ecosystems.controlled experiments: conduct experiments on plant responses to light, heat, and waterUrban Gardening: teacher leverages space to have segment on urban gardens
