Our Purpose

Our purpose is to plant the seed of self-confidence and self-reliance by fostering an environment that will further our diverse community using our Island’s natural resources within the Middletown Public School System.  We will develop strong connections with our classrooms, cafeterias and community to build sustainable, healthy habits. We are working with the newly established ‘Farm 2 School program’ in Rhode Island we have started both outdoor classroom gardens at one of the two local elementary schools and we are offering a Garden Club afterschool program through a Community Opportunity Zone funded group - East Bay Community Action. Our big picture goal is to build a strong foundation of agricultural sciences at the elementary level that will bridge with other local groups and programs for students to access and continue their education through highschool.  We also want to provide a flexible outdoor classroom space that teachers can utilize at their desire for any and all lessons.  In doing so we hope to introduce and encourage healthy food choices and a deeper understanding of food literacy.
