The Grassroots Fund believes supporting gatherings that engage a diverse set of frontline communities & a broad range of community organizers is key to developing a more sustainable and just environment. We believe that spaces that bring together a range of lived experiences and backgrounds can spark creative and innovative ideas. Our Event Sponsorship program offers funding of $100 - $1000 to events that are in alignment with our Guiding Values, our five issue areas, and our 4R approaches.
As there are many events happening across the region and we have a limited pool of sponsorship funds, we want to make sure we are clear as to the type of efforts we seek to support with this particular program. We prioritize funding events that:
Strongly reflect the Grassroots Fund’s Guiding Values;
Use the funding to increase accessibility to new and diverse audiences. Please find recommendations for increasing accessibility here;
- Convene stakeholders at the regional level to address issues affecting a regional (multi-community) watershed, foodshed, “energy shed”, or “economy shed”;
Have a strong need for financial support;
Either model new and innovative organizing strategies within our 5 issue areas or are led by groups that have not traditionally been environmentally-focused but see this event as an opportunity to engage in environmental work.

Given our limited budget, strong preference will be given to groups that have not recently received funding from the Grassroots Fund. Decisions will be made 2-3 weeks after application submission. Please note that funds available are limited and awarded on a first come, first serve basis. Please make sure to check out the Event Sponsorships FAQ section for answers to common questions and don't hesitate to contact us with any remaining questions.
