Group Details

Northern Rivers Land Trust (NRLT), representing seven neighboring towns, is dedicated to protecting the natural, scenic, and working landscapes in the headwaters of the Winooski, Lamoille, and Black Rivers. Land Conservation helps maintain the ecological health and economic vitality of our communities.

The group’s successes so far include: acquiring the first easement in 2007 of a 18 acre field at the junction of Bridgeman Hill and Renaud Roads; acquiring a second easement on a hayfield at the junction of Bridgeman Hill and Town Farm roads near the Greensboro border. As of early 2009, NRLT held these two easements on its own account, and had contributed to the purchase of another easement on Bridgeman Hill road by the VLT.

The group, located in Hardwick (VT), received its latest grant in November 2007 to lay the groundwork for future success through: 1) events and activities designed to expand member base and other community support; and 2) development of core “storytelling” materials to strategically support land conservation goals.
