Seacoast Area Renewable Energy Initiative

Our purpose is to build sustainable communities with a focus on local scale renewable energy development and energy efficiency. We accomplish this by using the 'barn-raising' model where neighbor helps neighbor and we all 'pay it forward' in order to build community connections. SEAREI accomplishes this by: 1) Bringing together community members to participate in 'energy raising' solar installations; 2) Providing hands-on education for community members so they end up with a strong understanding of how a solar energy system works; 3) Developing a support network of knowledgeable community members through 'energy share' potlucks and other forums; 4) Providing local trades-people and students opportunities to learn about installing renewable energy systems; 5) Significantly reducing costs while increasing accessibility to renewable energy systems; 6) Helping community members reduce their carbon footprint and become part of a sustainable energy future.

As part of our ongoing mission to foster grassroots growth throughout New England, NEGEF is developing a variety of web tools to better share news, events and resources. In addition, we're putting our grant program online, making it possible for groups to apply for grants and manage those applications on this site.

As a non-profit, we are especially budget conscious. In our desire to create an advanced platform within our limited budget, we have made the tough decision to only support up-to-date browsers.

You can download a Word file with NEGEF's application questions if you would like to apply for a grant.

Thanks for your understanding.
