Our purpose is to create a sustainable mechanism that connects local residents with healthy food, supports local food producers, and protects and improves the environment in our communities. Each year since our inception in 2006, we have moved closer to this vision. CAFM has grown to become a hub of activity with three primary areas of focus: a) supporting local food growers, fisherman and environmental groups who are active stewards of the land and ocean, b) connecting local residents with the highest quality food possible at prices they can afford, and c) generating and expanding a network of backyard gardeners who are providing for themselves while "greening" urban areas of Gloucester. More than a traditional farmers' market with a singular focus, CAFM is a comprehensive program that aims to simultaneously impact multiple points of the local food system.

As part of our ongoing mission to foster grassroots growth throughout New England, NEGEF is developing a variety of web tools to better share news, events and resources. In addition, we're putting our grant program online, making it possible for groups to apply for grants and manage those applications on this site.
As a non-profit, we are especially budget conscious. In our desire to create an advanced platform within our limited budget, we have made the tough decision to only support up-to-date browsers.
You can download a Word file with NEGEF's application questions if you would like to apply for a grant.
Thanks for your understanding.
